Bright isn't the goal — even, glare-controlled light to the right level is. Here's why it's a design job.
Good sports floodlighting isn't about being bright. It's about even, glare-controlled light at the level the sport and its governing body require — which makes it a design job, not a guess.
Lux is a target, not a maximum
Each sport and level of play has a recommended average lux and a uniformity figure. Too little and play suffers; too much in the wrong places creates glare and wasted energy. The aim is the right level, evenly.
Why it's a design job
- Column positions and aiming are modelled before anything is ordered.
- Optics are chosen to keep light on the pitch and out of neighbours' windows.
- Spill and glare are checked against planning conditions.
Modern LED makes it easier
LED heads with good optics and controls hit the target with less energy, less spill and instant on/off. We model the scheme, then install and commission it to prove it meets the numbers.
