How to keep the power, data and lighting from becoming the thing that holds up your programme.
On a commercial fit-out, the electrical works rarely make the programme — but they can break it if they're left late. A bit of planning keeps everything moving.
Get the design in early
Small-power layouts, lighting design and data routes are far cheaper to settle on paper than to move once the ceiling grid is in. We like to be in the conversation before first fix, not after.
Containment first
Getting tray, trunking and basket in early gives every other trade a clean route to follow and avoids clashes above the ceiling. It's the unglamorous bit that makes the rest run smoothly.
Plan the finish
- Agree a testing and certification plan up front so handover isn't a scramble.
- Leave time for commissioning lighting controls and emergency lighting.
- Keep a clear record for the O&M manual.
Done this way, the electrics are the part of the job nobody has to worry about.
