A battery stores the daytime surplus for the evening, when most households use the most power. It lifts the share of your own solar you actually use, and lets you buy cheap off-peak electricity to use later.

- A well-sized system typically pays back over several years, then runs largely for free.
- Oversizing for a small, daytime-empty home rarely makes sense.
- Good design — panel placement, inverter sizing, export setup — matters more than headline panel count.
